Promote access to digital services, a major challenge, an ambitious project to the University of Paris

The Rectorat of the Academy of Paris is based on the solution of JCMS Jalios and the know-how of Micropole Universe to launch its portal intra-academic. The Rectorat of the Academy of Paris is responsible for the management and administrative structures located on its education department and promote with them and the general public on "academic" to maintain consistency objectives of education and training from kindergarten to university. For the year 2007-2008, this broad mission involved more than 772 schools and 7 universities.

"Because of the magnitude of our work, we have always had to manage a mass of very important but in recent years, with the widespread use of the Internet, they have tended to develop exponentially, "said Savvas Panayiotou, CIO of the Rector of Paris. "Indeed, he says, today, few schools or training for not having a website. Even within the Rector, many services have their own site. That, regardless of redundancy of content, increases the risk of error and loss of information, which can be far more punitive. "

The management of information and content is thus become a strategic issue particularly for the University of Paris: on the one hand, it is to preserve the legitimacy of its information by ensuring the validity of the contents online and on the other hand, reinforcing the image of the Academy with his interlocutors. The University of Paris therefore sought a solution that would enable it to create its information portal intra-academic and manage its content independently. Furthermore, for many guilds in game (school inspectors, principals, teachers ...), the Rector wanted to establish "zones" seen as places of trade and access to tools work developed specifically for each trade. "The Rector of Paris is part of a promotion of ICT (Information Technology and Communication for Education) from schools. It is therefore quite natural that as prescribers, employees become informed consumers and see their working conditions optimized with innovative tools, "said Savvas Panayiotou. Following a study conducted by the University of Paris, several collaborative portal solutions are selected and tested locally. The supply of JCMS Jalios which proves to be the right solution to the requirements of the project and will be retained. The Rector also selects Micropole-Universe Consulting, to assist in its efforts to redesign all websites. M Savvas Panayiotou said: "We were looking for a product that will go very quickly in implementation. This involved it is very easy to use while offering many features, promoting sustainability and diversification of information. In this sense, JCMS of Jalios represented by far the best value for money. We needed a partner familiar with the solution and can provide multidisciplinary assistance. With Micropole-Universe, we received a team to listen, anxious to respond reliable and practical, especially when it needed to resolve many problems related to the SSO (Single Sign On). Another line of work: supporting the project had to meet the accession of all agents of Rector. This required a great deal of communication, upstream. "It was one of the main difficulties of the project," recalls Mr. Savvas Panayiotou. "It was necessary to reach to explain and demonstrate the internal interests and benefits of intra-portal academic ... mostly from those who would have to participate in its maintenance or use it regularly. In this case it was to put forward a better quality information, greater cross and greater autonomy services. "With regard to this delicate task, we were greatly helped by the product itself: After each demonstration of the solution JCMS, it was unanimously both by its ease of use by richness of its features, "says Savvas Panayiotou.

The decentralization of content maintenance also contributed to greater ownership of the tool internally. In each of the Rector, employees were asked to contribute to updates. They are supervised by "Managers spaces", responsible for the proper consistency of the editorial line. "This methodology is, moreover, be more efficient to keep the authentic and living information," says Mr. Savvas Panayiotou. Because the quality of information has become paramount importance to the University of Paris, which like the service companies would like to make particular care in the home visitors. "With this tool, we are now able to deliver relevant information to targeted audiences," says Savvas Panayiotou. "Indeed, in the interests of continuous improvement, it was decided that the working groups have identified needs in terms of content during the implementation of the project are maintained after its line. "

A first version of the portal's Academic Dean of Paris was launched in March 2008. You can find information for the general public as well as two zones (school inspectors and personnel management). Thereafter, other areas (Guidance Counselor, secretaries, teachers, academic services ...) should be integrated gradually. By 3 years, when the portal is complete, the University of Paris aims to integrate even in a standardized nomenclature schools that wish.
