The Departmental Council's public service responsibilities with regard to the Department's inhabitants and communes include social solidarity, infrastructures, transport, education, environment, economy and culture. The Department is divided into 59 Cantons each of which elects one councilor for six years. The Loire Atlantique Departmental Council, whose annual budget is about €1bn, employs 4,000 territorial civil servants spread over five General Directorates (Coordination, Resources, Development, Equipment, Solidarity) and the President's Cabinet. |
The need
As part of the renovation of its intranet site, the Departmental Council wanted to implement a content management tool and optimize its portal in order to communicate more effectively with its agents and keep them better informed.
Content management was formerly very limited with only centralized updates and no convenient way of identifying obsolete information or getting the full benefit of its documentary assets.
The Council also wished to upgrade its intranet to make it more collaborative.
The solution
The JCMS solution matched the Council's requirements perfectly, providing efficient management of its documentation and creating a portal to simplify information interchange.
The Project manager, Mr. Lefèvre, recalls: "We particularly appreciated the excellent reactivity of the Jalios team during this upgrade and its fast response to our requests for software modifications."
Thanks to the efficiency of its new portal, the Departmental Council has acquired much more than an intranet, it has a veritable e-administration tool providing online information and services for Departmental staff.
