In order to ensure the animation and diffusion of technological innovations and standards, within the Group Crédit Agricole, the Corporate IT department has set up a portal centered on technology; this portal built on JCMS 5.0 encompass themes subsites, collaborative workspaces and blogs. |
The need
There was also a pressing need to create collaborative spaces to share and manage all sorts of documents within user groups, to manage documents in private filing plans, to create restricted-access forums, etc. It was essential that the future solution be able to support user groups and even metagroups (groups of groups).
Part of the group's information resources takes the form of static sites built using external tools (e.g. conceptual and technical documentation generated by software engineering units). So another exigency was the possibility of integrating these existing sites and indexing their content for searching purposes.
The incorporation of RSS feeds, web services and applications was also important.
In view of the increasing popularity of "social web" concepts, features such as commenting, scoring, discussion groups, and blogs were also on the bank's wish-list.
The solution
Jalios JCMS was able to satisfy all these needs with almost no specific development, thanks to its native functionalities: workspace creation and duplication, flexible content categorization, security management, Web page design by assembly of portlets.
Assimilating successive releases of JCMS since 2002, this portal has evolved and become functionally richer as users' needs have developed. From a simple website it has become a rich portal integrating thematic and application sub-portals and proposing collaborative working facilities.
Since December 2005, the bank's strategy and techno-watch portal has been migrated to JCMS 5.0 on an Apache Tomcat 5 Java application platform running under Debian/Linux.
The success of the portal has spurred other Crédit Agricole entities to adopt JCMS too: Crédit Agricole Federation, CEDICAM (management of payment means and streams), Crédit Agricole Leasing, regional banks (Charente Maritime/Deux-Sèvres and Centre regions), and the ATTICA economic interest group (insurance and data processing).
